Are You Supposed to Tip for Car Maintenance?

This is a question I get asked a lot! The short answer is: tipping is not expected in most auto repair shops. Unlike restaurants or hair salons, mechanics and technicians usually don’t rely on tips as part of their income. They are paid a set wage or salary.

However, if you feel that a mechanic went above and beyond to help you, or if you received exceptional service, a small tip or a kind gesture like bringing coffee or a thank-you note can be a nice way to show appreciation. Just remember, it’s never required.

If you want to support your local auto shop, the best way is to be a loyal customer, follow their advice, and recommend them to friends and family!

Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord, not human masters, since you know that you will receive an inheritance from the Lord as a reward. It is the Lord Christ you are serving.
